Wayne Tillinghast concentrates his practice in civil litigation, medical malpractice defense and personal injury. For several years he has specialized in the negotiation and trial of personal injury cases. From 1989 to the present, he has been chosen by his peers to be listed in the publication "The Best Lawyers in America." He is an honor graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law , and served there from 1979 to 1999 as an Adjunct Professor of Law teaching a course on Trial Practice. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, membership to which is by invitation only and restricted to one percent of the lawyer population. He is also by invitation a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Mr. Tillinghast is a former President of the Connecticut Academy of Certified Trial Lawyers and periodically serves as an Attorney Trial Referee and an Arbitrator for the Connecticut Superior Court. He has frequently lectured throughout the State on various aspects of trial practice at seminars sponsored by numerous bar associations and legal organizations.

A Norwich native, he is a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy, the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is a past Vice President of the Norwich Free Academy and served for several years on its Board of Trustees. He is an honorary corporator of the William W. Backus Hospital. He is a member of the Rhode Island Historical Society and the Newport Historical Society.

Michael E. Driscoll

Michael Driscoll has an active civil litigation practice, concentrating on insurance defense issues, claims arising in the employment context, municipal law and medical malpractice defense. Mr. Driscoll currently serves as Corporation Counsel for the City of Norwich. Mr. Driscoll graduated from Georgetown University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970, and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in 1973. He is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of Connecticut, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court and the Mohegan Gaming Disputes Court. Mr. Driscoll is a member of, and has held leadership positions in, the New London County Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, and Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the International Defense Lawyers Association.

Mr. Driscoll has significant trial experience in both state and federal courts and has presented argument before the Connecticut appellate courts.

David S. Williams

David Williams primarily practices in the areas of civil litigation, including both personal injury and defense litigation, and Indian law. Mr. Williams is admitted to practice before the bars of California and Connecticut, and is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court (District of Connecticut), the United States Court of Appeals (Second Circuit), the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court and the Mohegan Gaming Disputes Court.

Mr. Williams received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1973, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1978. He is a member and past President of the New London County Bar Association, and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

John C. Wirzbicki

John Wirzbicki's practice is concentrated on the practice of housing, consumer and indian law, as well as the practice of commercial litigation and Social Security Disability law. Prior to joining Brown Jacobson in 1986, Mr. Wirzbicki worked for Connecticut Legal Services in its New London, Connecticut office, where he handled cases in the housing and consumer law areas.

Mr. Wirzbicki graduated from Bowdoin College in 1972 with an A.B. and received his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1975. While attending law school he was an intern in the school?s criminal law clinic and worked on a part time basis for the Office of the Public Defender in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

He is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives and the New London County Bar Association. Besides being a member of the Connecticut Bar, Mr. Wirzbicki is a member of the bar of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court and the Mohegan Gaming Disputes Court. He has served as a member of the Groton Town Council. He is a former member of the School Board of the Town of Groton, the Groton Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Groton Representative Town Meeting.

Mr. Wirzbicki and his wife reside in the Noank area of Groton.

Michael D. Colonese

Michael Colonese concentrates his legal practice in the areas of personal injury, automobile accidents, workers' compensation, commercial litigation, civil litigation, construction litigation and personnel and employment law. He has extensive experience representing clients in the Connecticut courts and before the Workers' Compensation Commission and the Department of Labor. He has also argued before the Connecticut Appellate and Supreme Courts. Mr. Colonese is a board certified Workers' Compensation specialist.

Mr. Colonese graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut in 1982 and received his Juris Doctorate, with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1985. While at law school, Mr. Colonese received the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in the study of evidence and was awarded the Michie Company Book Award for outstanding achievement in the second year.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Colonese was employed at the Hartford office of the firm of Day, Berry and Howard. He joined Brown Jacobson in 1987.

Mr. Colonese is a member of the Connecticut and American Bar Associations, and the Connecticut and American Trial Lawyers Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors and is a past President of the YMCA of Southeastern Connecticut.

Mr. Colonese resides with his wife in Glastonbury, Connecticut.

Karl-Erik Sternlof

Karl Sternlof's practice is concentrated in the areas of commercial real estate and secured transactions, specializing in matters involving Indian law, banking law and general corporate law. Mr. Sternlof is currently Vice President of the Board of Directors of the New London Development Corporation and is a Director and Treasurer of Summer Music, Inc.

Mr. Sternlof obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College in 1979 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1983, where he was Note and Comment Editor of the Connecticut Law Review. Mr. Sternlof is a member of the New London County, Connecticut and American Bar Associations.

Jeffrey R. Godley

Jeffrey Godley's practice focuses on residential and commercial real estate, banking law, including commercial litigation and foreclosures, and municipal and planning and zoning law. His clients include Chelsea Groton Savings Bank, Dime Bank, People's Bank and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe. He has served as a member of the House of Delegates and the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Bar Association. He is also Treasurer of the Mashantucket Pequot Bar Association. Mr. Godley is legal counsel for and a member of the Executive Board of The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut.  He also serves on the Foundation Board of Three Rivers Community College.  Mr. Godley is also a member of the Executive Board of the Connecticut Rivers Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Godley graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received his law degree from Western New England College School of Law in 1987, where he served as a Staff Member (1985-86) and Managing Editor (1986-87) of the Western New England Law Review. While at Western New England, Mr. Godley authored ?Defining the CIA?s ?Intelligence Sources? as an Exemption to the Freedom of Information Act - CIA v. Sims, 471 U.S. 159 (1985)", 9 Western New England Law Review 333 (1987). Upon graduation, he served as a legal research clerk for the Connecticut Judicial Department until joining the firm in 1989.

John F. Duggan

John Duggan specializes in the practice of estate planning, estate administration, wills, tax planning, probate and taxation. He has concentrated these fields of practice since joining Brown Jacobson in 1993. Currently Mr. Duggan is a Trustee of The Eastern Community Foundation.  He has served as a member of the Board of Governors and the House of Delegates of the Connecticut Bar Association. Mr. Duggan has also served as a Trustee of The Community Foundation of Southeastern Connecticut and as a member of the Rose City Senior Center Job Bank Advisory Board. He has served as Treasurer and a Board Member of the American Red Cross of Southeastern Connecticut.

Jeffrey F. Buebendorf

Jeffrey Buebendorf has been with Brown, Jacobson since graduating from law school in 1994. He concentrates his legal practice in the area of civil litigation,  employment law, personal injury and employment discrimination cases. Mr. Buebendorf is admitted to practice before the Connecticut state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court and the Mohegan Gaming Disputes Court. He is also a member of the New London County, Connecticut and American Bar Associations.

Mr. Buebendorf received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, in 1983. After pursuing brief careers in commercial aviation and real estate development, Mr. Buebendorf attended the University of Connecticut School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate, with honors, in 1994, and where he served as Executive Director of the Connecticut Moot Court Board. Mr. Buebendorf was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for excellence in the study of Comparative Law.

Mr. Buebendorf is a life sustaining member and Vice President of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, an organization dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards in the practice of law. He serves on the Board of Directors for Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut.  He is also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association House of Delegates/Board of Governors.

Aimee L. Wickless

Aimee L. Wickless has been with Brown Jacobson P.C. since August of 2001. Her practice concentrates primarily in the areas of general commercial litigation, municipal law and residential real estate. Ms. Wickless is admitted to practice in the Connecticut State and Federal Courts. She is a member of the New London County Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association.

Ms. Wickless obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 1998 and her Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University in 2001.

While attending Quinnipiac University, Ms. Wickless served as associate editor of the Quinnipiac Probate Journal and received an award for Outstanding Legal Scholarship. She published an article entitled "A. v B. v Hill Wallack: Disclosure of Illegitimate Children in Estate Planning", The Quinnipiac Law Journal, Volume 15, 2001.

Sean P. Sullivan

Sean Sullivan joined Brown Jacobson P.C. in October of 2006.  He practices in the area of land use, municipal planning and zoning, and civil litigation.

Prior to joining Brown Jacobson P.C., Mr. Sullivan was a career submarine officer in the United States Navy.  During the 1980's and 1990's, he made many submarine deployments, including a deployment in support of the first Gulf War.  On shore, he served a tour on Capitol Hill at the Navy's Office of Legislative Affairs.  In the late 1990's, he commanded the USS Jefferson City, a Los Angeles class attack submarine.  For his last Navy assignment, Mr. Sullivan commanded the Naval Submarine Base in Groton.  He retired from the Navy in August of 2006.

Mr. Sullivan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Arts from the Naval War College, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut.

Mr. Sullivan serves on the Board of Trustees of the Ledyard Education and Advancement Foundation, the Facility Committee of the Ledyard Board of Education, and the Military Affairs Committee of the Eastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce.  In the past he chaired a Ledyard Town Committee responsible for renovating Ledyard High School, and served on the Governor's Commission for the Economic Diversification of Southeastern Connecticut.  He is an active member of the Ledyard Rotary Club.

Mr. Sullivan resides with his family in Gales Ferry.

Kevin B. F. Emerson

Kevin Emerson's practice includes family law (divorce, mediation, custody and relocation cases), employment law and civil litigation.  He serves as a Special Master for family matters for the Connecticut Superior Court, Judicial District of New London at Norwich.  Mr. Emerson is admitted to practice in the Connecticut state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court.  He is a member of the New London Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association.

Mr. Emerson graduated from the Honors Program of Eastern University in Saint Davids, PA in 1992 with a B.A. in Political Science.  He earned his juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in 1995.

Mr. Emerson has served as a member of the Board of Managers of American Baptist Churches of Connecticut.

Christopher C. Frayer

Christopher C. Frayer has been with Brown Jacobson P.C. since 2007 after relocating to Connecticut.  His practice concentrates primarily in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury litigation, insurance defense and medical malpractice defense.  Mr. Frayer is admitted to practice before the bars of Florida, Arizona, Michigan and Connecticut.  He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Eastern and Western District of Michigan.

Mr. Frayer obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Northwood University in 1991, and his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2001. He is a member of the New London County Bar Association and a member of the Connecticut Bar Association.
